The pandemic has served as an excellent reason to finally get to that very list of movies that everyone has in their smartphone's notes but put off watching them because of various reasons: work, study, or routine.

It's an open secret that the Czech Republic is one of the leading film locations. By its architecture and picturesque nature, it attracted Hollywood producers at various times. This is what we are going to speak about today.
Barrandov Studios is a famous film studio founded in the 1920th not far from Prague. This is the biggest film production company within the territory of the Czech Republic and one of the largest European motion picture companies.

Casino Royale (2006)

The restart of the most popular franchise required special decorations. According to the storyline, the action of the Casino Royale movie takes place in Montenegro, in the chic Splendid Hotel. In fact, the movie about James Bond was produced in the Grandhotel Pupp in Czech Karlovy Vary. In the movie, you can also observe the landscapes of Prague, Planá, and Loket.

Mission: Impossible (1996) / Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)

Among Hollywood celebrities, there is probably no bigger fan of Prague than Tom Cruise. For several times, Tom spoke about Prague as one of his favorite cities and after 15 years, he "brought" Hunt "back" during the production of the fourth "Mission". The major part of the movie was produced in London and Prague. The museum located at Václavské nám 68 acts as the American Embassy, while the interior of this museum you can later see in the Casino Royale movie. A part of the movie was filmed on the Charles Bridge, on Kampa Island, and in Liechtenstein Palace.

The Charles Bridge, Hotel Europe, Old Town Square, where Ethan Hunt broke a non-existent aquarium, and many more familiar places are constantly appearing in the frame.
Wanted (2008)

If you see James McAvoy or Angelina Jolie in the frame, then such a movie is definitely doomed to success. The spectacular movie by Timur Bekmambetov about a mystical order of serial killers, in which the building of the former sugar factory in Prague acts as a building of an old weaving factory where a part of the movie takes place. In the frames, the Charles Bridge, Great Strahov Stadium,Královské Vinohrady Hospital, the villages Sokolec and Cerhenice, castles Pernštejn and Křivoklát.

Eurotrip (2004)

"Miskuzi, Miskuzi", you are probably familiar with this funny address because it's about the Eurotrip comedy movie, which has already become classic. This is a story about a guy who falls in love with his pen pal and goes right to Berlin to see her. A part of this movie presented as Bratislava was produced in the town of Milovice, Czech Republic. The main part of other European scenes was also created in the Czech Republic in Prague, mostly in the streets adjoining the Rudolfinum Concert Hall. The moment of boarding the train in Paris was also produced at the Prague main station.

Hellboy (2004)

Looks like the producer Guillermo del Toro loves the Czech Republic on the whole. As, after the production of the second Blade, which also took place in Prague, he decided to create his new project here not by a coincidence. In the frames, the Motol crematorium, the old city, the Prague underground turned into New York one, are appearing.

Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

We can list the world's bestsellers of cinematography that were created on the land of Karlovy Vary for a long time. It's no accident that annually, the International Film Festival takes place in the tourist town of Karlovy Vary. The festival is considered the most important cinematic event in Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to the high-quality program and unique atmosphere, the festival has become the key event for the buyers, distributors, festival selectors, agents, journalists, and cinematographers.
We hope that the year 2021 will delight us with more than one new blockbuster produced in the Czech Republic. If you are a movie fan or just enjoy traveling, you should definitely visit this picturesque country and follow the steps of your favorite characters. As for the stay, you don't need to worry about it - our apartments work in 4 Czech towns - Karlovy Vary, Marianske Lazne, Frantiskovy Lazne and soon - in Prague.
Enjoy your movie :)
